Primary Care Diabetes Association Pakistan (PCDA)





PCDA is a non-political, non-sectarian voluntary social welfare association established in 2009 in Karachi with a team of 19 primary care diabetes physicians. The association is now working in pan Pakistan with 32 chapters in all provinces and the federal capital. 57 executive members and around 500 general members. The majority of these are working at the Primary and Secondary care levels. The PCDA strives to improve Pakistan’s quality of life by raising awareness of healthy lifestyles.


Our Efforts And Achievements


To highlight Pakistan’s data of primary care level internationally. Persistent research work in diabetes in remote areas of Pakistan. To unite primary care physician in diabetes all over Pakistan for standardization of treatment in diabetes in Pakistan. To ensure initiation of prevention programs in Pakistan through direct contact at individual basis, group counseling and multimedia. To arrange diabetes conferences and symposiums to share recent advancement in diabetes care.




Aims and Objectives



  • To provide a forum for the Primary Care Physicians in Pakistan to meet together to create opportunities to exchange & share ideas, strategies & methods for professional development.
  • To encourage evidence-based practice in diabetes care by the primary care team, including the implementation of appropriate standards.
  • To promote research & development for providing good quality diabetes care in the primary care setting.
  • To provide awareness in the community regarding diabetes through educational programs, seminars, and workshops.
  • Mobile Application with the name “Primary Care”
  • Rakho Apna Khayal Diabetes Se Pehle – as an Initiative of Diabetes Prevention by PCDA and DUHS by organizing screening camps and strong social media campaigns involving celebrities.
  • Badlo Aaj behter Kal k leay is a campaign against Obesity.
  • Aap Ka Tabeeb, for guiding the community for nutrition via 24 hrs helpline by diabetes educators/nutritionist
  • SEED is a program for screening One million people in the community.
  • STEP by PCDA “Student Task Force for Education and Public Health” a medical school student organization of MBBS, Nursing, and allied health sciences for school and community health.
  • DEW “Diet and Education Wing” of PCDA.
